SUMMARY:SIGCHI EC November Meeting
DESCRIPTION:View in your time zone \nWe will begin by discussing the Data Access Policy that Helena Mentis (Past President) and Kash Todi (VP Operations) have been working on. Community input/feedback on what we do with our data would be very welcome! \nWe would like to grow SIGCHI membership to include our conference communities\, so that those who attend our conferences can also partake of member benefits. Naomi Yamashita (VP at Large) and I (Neha Kumar\, president) will go over our current thoughts on implementing this\, and welcome your feedback\, especially if you are a representative of a current or future conference steering/organizing committee. \nOur newly formed Futuring SIGCHI Committee\, led by Naveena Karusala\, met last week and has already begun discussing ideas around enriching SIGCHI’s contributions. One question that came up\, for example\, was “how could we create mechanisms for supporting and recognizing the role that non-profit community partners might have in enabling HCI research?” We’ll hear more about the questions/directions this committee is exploring\, and welcome thoughts/feedback. \nFinally\, the awards nominations are due on December 5\, which is less than a month away! Andrew Kun\, Executive Vice-President\, will talk more about these\, including what the process is like\, and what makes a good nomination.
