SUMMARY:Onam
DESCRIPTION:Onam is an annual Hindu harvest festival celebrated in the Indian state of Kerala. A major annual event for Keralites\, it is the official festival of the state and includes a spectrum of cultural events. Drawing from Hindu legends\, Onam commemorates King Mahabali and Vamana. Within the textual tradition\, Mahabali is noted to be an Asura\, who found liberation at the feet of Vishnu through charity and religious rectitude. However\, there are other interpretations of the same myth-cycle. In the state-sanctioned celebrations\, Mahabali is portrayed as a cultural hero: a just and benevolent ruler\, he chose to even give up his rule/life for protecting his subjects\, and was allowed by Vamana to return once a year. The festival probably has ancient origins and it became intricately linked with Hindu legends at some later date. The earliest known reference is found in Maturaikkāñci – a Sangam poem – which mentions Onam being celebrated in Madurai temples. Source: Duckduckgo API

SUMMARY:Mid-Autumn Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Mid-Autumn Festival\, also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival\, is a traditional festival celebrated in mainland China\, Taiwan\, Hong Kong\, Macau\, and Vietnam\, as well as by overseas Chinese and Vietnamese communities. Similar holidays are celebrated in Japan\, Korea\, and throughout Southeast Asia. It is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture; its popularity is on par with that of Chinese New Year. The history of the Mid-Autumn Festival dates back over 3\,000 years. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night\, corresponding to mid-September to early October of the Gregorian calendar. On this day\, the Chinese believe that the Moon is at its brightest and fullest size\, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of Autumn. Lanterns of all size and shapes\, are carried and displayed – symbolic beacons that light people’s path to prosperity and good fortune. Source: Duckduckgo API

SUMMARY:Rosh Hashana
DESCRIPTION:Rosh HaShanah\, is the Jewish New Year. The biblical name for this holiday is Yom Teruah\, literally “day of shouting or blasting.” It is the first of the Jewish High Holy Days\, as specified by Leviticus 23:23–25\, that occur in the late summer/early autumn of the Northern Hemisphere. The High Holy Days comprises both Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur. Rosh Hashanah is a two-day observance and celebration that begins on the first day of Tishrei\, which is the seventh month of the ecclesiastical year. In contrast to the ecclesiastical lunar new year on the first day of the first month Nisan\, the spring Passover month which marks Israel’s exodus from Egypt\, Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the civil year\, according to the teachings of Judaism\, and is the traditional anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve\, the first man and woman according to the Hebrew Bible\, as well as the initiation of humanity’s role in God’s world.
